What counts as near Coastal Carolina University?
“Near” can mean a short drive to campus or a place to stay in the wider Myrtle Beach area.
CCU directs visitors to hotel options in both Conway and the Myrtle Beach resort area, and links to participating hotels through Campus Travel Management. The university does not endorse or guarantee the services on its visitor-accommodations page, and some hotels may offer discounts.
For a campus-focused trip, compare the route to your actual destination, not just the university address. The admissions office is in Baxley Hall at 100 Chanticleer Drive East, Conway, SC 29526, while a game or other event may take you elsewhere on campus.
The Coastal Carolina University campus and visitor guide can help you identify the places you plan to visit.
How do you compare distance and transportation?
Compare the trip from each hotel to your campus destination, and decide whether you’ll drive, use public transit or arrange an airport transfer. CCU says Myrtle Beach International Airport is approximately 15 miles from the university and advises allowing extra time for traffic, which may be heavy, especially during summer months.
CCU does not offer an airport shuttle. Its visitor FAQ names rental cars, taxis and rideshares as options from the airport. Coast RTA Route 7 connects Myrtle Beach and Conway, with Coastal Carolina University as a major destination.
Route 7 and Route 7X operate daily from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; check the Coast RTA site before you travel because schedules can change. The Conway transfer terminal is at 1418 Third Avenue in downtown Conway, where Routes 1, 2, 3 and 7 transfer. All Coast RTA fixed-route vehicles are handicap accessible.
If you’re arriving by air, factor in the airport-to-Conway leg as well as the campus trip. The Myrtle Beach Airport to Conway transportation guide covers that connection.
What should you check about parking and arrival?
Campus parking requirements depend on your visit, so confirm the applicable instructions before you set out. Visitors and guests must register vehicles and obtain a visitor permit through the Coastal Carolina ARMS Parking portal. A permit does not guarantee a space; parking is first-come, first-served.
For weekday campus tours, visitors receive a temporary permit at check-in. Limited visitor parking is available near Baxley Hall, with additional parking in nearby lots. Saturday visitors do not need a permit and may park in any space except those designated handicapped or reserved. Rules can change, so check the official site before you go.
CCU’s campus map page provides campus and parking maps, along with transportation information about parking, shuttle services, traffic flow and other transportation resources. Use those resources to check where you need to arrive and which parking instructions apply to your visit.
How should you match a stay to your reason for visiting?
Your plans should shape the location you compare: an admissions tour, an athletics event and a required residency experience can involve different campus destinations and lodging considerations. For weekday tours, check-in begins at the Welcome Center in Baxley Hall. The admissions office business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
For a campus tour, consider the check-in point and parking arrangements before booking. The guide to planning a Coastal Carolina University campus tour can help you organise the visit. CCU also says prospective students do not have an overnight stay option on campus, and visitor luggage cannot be stored during tours.
If you’re travelling for athletics, compare the hotel’s location with the venue you’ll attend. Fairfield Inn & Suites Coastal Carolina is at 200 Allied Drive; Home2 Suites by Hilton Conway is at 167 Waccamaw Medical Park Drive. Athletic tickets are available through the university athletics website or by calling 1-877-424-2687.
For students attending required in-person residency experiences, Fairfield Inn & Suites Coastal Carolina Conway offers a 20% discount, subject to availability. Confirm eligibility and availability with the hotel before relying on the offer.
For a Conway stay, Budget Inn near Coastal Carolina University is about 6 minutes from CCU by car.
